Also, we as a Board will be pondering lots of questions at our strategic planning event in early 2026. Some of these questions for consideration are:!
How can we do more to support and amplify the important sustainability work happening within the City?
How can we provide the highest value service to Silvertonians who are looking for ways to contribute?
How can we ensure that the messages and practices we promote are well-researched and alert to the high bias-potential within today’s Information network*? *which by design reinforces each one of our existing preferred opinions and beliefs.
Can we even facilitate public conversations, on topics from polystyrene recycling to all electric to regenerative agriculture? These are the kinds of topics we all care about, and we want the same outcome - mitigate the pollution that harms all biological life, clean up our land, air, and water, and make a long-term, healthy, caring community viable. We could learn a lot from each other, and from what each other could learn!
How do we decide which programs or practices to promote and be transparent about their unknowns and potential pros and cons?
What should be our top priorities to align with our mission and give due consideration of the findings of the Sustainable City Year report?
If you have thoughts and ideas related to this upcoming conversation, please send them our way!
